Welcome to Tholdien, a world where players can immerse themselves into stories of the meager standing up to the mighty, of the bold venturing into the unknown, of the righteous challenging the wicked, a custom world of heroic and epic fantasy. A world with hungry peasants, highway bandits, and political corruption; ancient ruins and haunted temples, labyrinthine cities and monstrous lairs. Men and dwarves tame the wild places while orcs and goblins press against the borders. Clerics tend their shrines lest the hungry dead rise up to feast on the innocent. Rumors and legends circulate through taverns and libraries, prophesies are quoted and doomsayers bemoan the end of times. Adventure beckons, and fortune awaits the brave and foolhardy. The theme of this game is exploration and growth, good versus evil, survival against overwhelming opposition. Through the course of the story, the adventures will become more challenging, even deadly. My goal is not to kill off characters and I hope that you players will not be killing each other off, either. When I sic a master vampire on the party, I am actually hoping that the characters survive the encounter; understand that I am generally trying to challenge your characters, not kill them. The characters will be doing a lot of travelling and the environment will vary throughout the course of the game, so be prepared for urban adventures and wilderness expeditions.

Tholdien isn’t like every other fantasy world, and as a result the rules are a little different here. House Rules are flexible and open to discussion, and they are maintained online for everyone to reference. More to come…
